Our Story

RBA comes from the abbreviation for Robin Braverman Associates, and is being used as part of the bookkeeping services name as a way to honor and show respect for Robin Braverman, the founder.

The purpose of the business was to assist nonprofit clients to achieve each group’s important mission by helping executive directors, financial staff, and the organization’s board of directors, better understand nonprofit G.A.A.P. (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and better manage all the financial aspects of each organization.

In 2010, Robin added the Bookkeeping Service to her business as a way to expand her impact by bringing on employees and training them in nonprofit accounting and G.A.A.P., she not only helped the nonprofit community by providing expanded services, but additionally helped the individuals she trained to develop a salable skill in a market that provides a living wage, and at the same time provides the satisfaction of knowing that one is doing something that makes the world a better place.

In 2021, Robin gave the bookkeeping portion of her business to Jessica Keahey, then Director of the bookkeeping service, to whom Robin had been a friend and mentor over the previous eight years.

A founding principal of Robin's was that she would only do business with nonprofits whose mission she was proud to stand behind and support. This principal remains a core value for Jessica as the now Owner & Director of RBA Bookkeeping Services LLC.
